Why is music important? Do we just sing and move around? What does music do?
Yes, music is important! We sing and do movements but there is so much more that goes on in our class.
Lets look at what we learn in Music class:

Lets look at what we learn in Music class:
- Increase fine motor skills
- Increase reading comprehension
- Builds math skills
- Works every part of the human brain
- Teaches teamwork
- Builds collaboration skills between students
- Allows students to be creative through compositions, solo's and improvisations
- Reading music helps students prepare for future music classes such as choir, band, or orchestra
- Builds confidence
- Builds self-esteem
- Learn other subject areas through songs! Example: the water cycle (science), counting (math), alphabet (reading), Star Spangled Banner (History), songs with different languages (Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Swahili, Different Native American languages), and songs that talk about good P.A.T.H. behavior (respect, caring, teamwork, honesty, accountability, personal best).
